At the same time that the new  iPad 2 is revealed to the public, new Amazon Ipad 2 accessories have appeared on the populare retailer site. Here is a summary or short guide of the more distinctive iPad accessories to be announced.

The new Digital AV Adapter is a cable that is used to connect the iPad 2 to users’ TV monitors or other HDMI-ready display units. Unlike other  iPad accessories it has video mirroring support which means that whatever is displayed on the device can also be seen on the screen, be it movies playing, presentations being shown, websites displayed or even games played. This iPad accessory  has an HDMI port that connects to the 30-pin port on the iPad. When plugged in, it works with both video and audio without need for any other configuration.

The Digital AV Adapter is not exclusive to the iPad2 and will work with the original iPad, the iPhone4 as well as the 4^th generation iPod Touch. It retails for $39 from Apple.

Amongst the new iPad accessories, this new iPad 2 accessory has created the most buzz due to the way it works completely in sync with the iPad 2 over and above its primary purpose of protecting the device. It automatically sends the iPad to sleep when the device is placed on it and through the magnetic connection adheres to the iPad securely. The iPad wakes up ready to be used as soon as you remove the smart cover.

Apple is lauding the smart cover as a better alternative to the conventional bulky iPad case with its new sleek and slim design. With its design and the way the magnets function, it can be folded over and adheres to the back of the iPad and serves as a stand for the device making activities like movie watching, video calling and typing easier to do. The smart cover sells for $39.

Amazon iPad 2 Dock

With the new smaller Amazon iPad 2, Apple also released the new Dock to fit the device. Like many of the other iPad accessories, the dock is designed for convenience and accessibility to ports for charging, synching and connecting to external speakers. It works with other IPad accessories too.

Conventional iPad Accessories

Those who are upgrading to the Amazon iPad 2 need not worry if they need to buy all the new iPad 2 accessories. Conventional accessories for the original iPad 2 like the camera connection kit, AVG Adapter, wireless keyboard and other items will still be available for the Amazon iPad 2

Weight: with 3G – lighter by 0.15 pounds (iPad 2 is 1.35 pounds)

New:  iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G For Verizon: 1.34 pounds (something that iPad original doesn’t have)

New Camera

Several iPad descriptions will focus on the camera: One big “upgrade” in the Amazon iPad 2 is that (oh  surprise!), it features a camera on the device.

The  Ipad 2^nd generation not only has a camera but two! The front camera is used for a face to face call conference, while the back camera can be used for video recording. Of course, the front camera can still record VGA.

And as a matter of fact, this feature is a first on any computer device (excluding cellphones of course which do not count as computers even when these are Smartphones).

Battery Life

A recent iPad description referred to the battery life of the Ipad 2, which is of course important with any portable device for many users. Although the iPad 2 is a little smaller as far it is a good thing to know that the battery life will stays the same as for the Ipad 1. So everyone can look forward to use the new device for 10 straight hours on Wi-Fi, or 9 hours straight on 3G.

The Apple iPad description on the company’s website, boast interesting facts about the processing capability of the iPad 2^nd generation. In case you have not guessed yet the iPad 2 runs faster than iPad 1.

Another feature and benefit provided by iPad 2 is that it includes gyroscope, as well as accelerometer, thereby increasing the device’s motion sensing accuracy and this should clearly translate with the ability for the iPad 2 to know where you are going (right J!).

Last but not least, iPad 2 has a much better operating system, which is an iOS 4.3, giving it a higher performance rating than its predecessor.

My take on it is that the better features of the iPad 2 should not disappoint. I fully expect that many users will buy Amazon iPad 2 since it isn’t going to cost more than what the original iPad did on the initial release
